The Vale of the Book revealed the names of the authors who will be taking part in its new version, which will be held at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center between December 13 and 16.
This year, within the framework of the literary fair, the "Latin American Dialogs" meeting will take place. On this occasion, the activity will be named Feel the continent with words. The twelve acclaimed authors of the event will have.
The Argentineans Edgardo Cozarinsky, María Sonia Cristoff, Selva Almada, Damián Tabarovsky, Daniel Link, Patricio Pron, J.P. Zooey, the Horacio Castellanos Moya of Italy, Esteban Mayorga Ecuatàtica, Fernanda Melchor Mexico, and Uruguayan Inés Bortagaray to Horacio Cavallo, will be the guests for this occasion, where they will take part in lectures, readings and signings books.
As well as participating in the "American Latin Dialogs", each author will share their editorial news, already published or in preparation. For example, Gabriel García Márquez's new-born Spanish-American Short Story Edgardo Cozarinsky, will present his book Deprivates and document document Letter to dad; Uruguay, Inés Bortagaray, Special Jury Award at the 2016 Sundance Festival for the screen script My friend of the park, launches his book Already, ready,; Selva Almada, who has translated into seven languages by The wind that is spoiled (2012), presents this book published in Chile last year; a J.P. Zooey will launch his unpublished book Dealing with her with a publisher from Chile. Daniel Link, Esteban Mayorga and María Sonia Cristoff will also present their new books in La Furia.
With nine years on the map, La Furia del Libro has succeeded in locating Chile as an independent publishing capital in Latin America: it is not only the oldest event of this type and with the largest number of audiences for each issue, but instead focuses on the largest number of international publishers that participate. This year the figure is a record, with 48 Latin American publishers of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Perw, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
Local proposals will include an important number of writers from Chile who have set standards in recent years, such as Alejandra Costamagna (the 2018 novel Herralde Prize final and MOL winner for the best novel not announced), Lina Meruane, Andrea Jeftanovic , Camila Gutiérrez, Natalia Berbelagua, Camila Valenzuela León, Claudia Andrade, Gladys González, Paula Ilabaca, Karina Cocq, Lyuba Yez and Sol Díaz, among others. In addition, the opening will include a poetic reading by Elvira Hernández, the Iberoamerican Pablo Neruda 2018 Poetry Award.
