RALEIGH, N.C. – Raleigh student, Skyler McCardle, died after severe flu complications on Friday, according to WTVD, stating an online family health magazine posted by a family.
McCardle was a student at GRACE Christian School in Raleigh and was diagnosed with flu last Friday, according to Eric Bradley, head of the GRACE Christian school.
Bradley contacted the Skyler's CaringBridge online health magazine. Skyler was in critical condition at the Black Medical Center following severe complications from the flu that led to myocarditis – rare muscle inflammation, according to the blog.
The blog also says that Skyler has a heart surgery on Wednesday.
"He fights against this illness with everything he had, but she still overwhelmed her body. Her courage and strength will be something we can all admire forever," said Caring Bridge's blog.
Skyler was the driver and manager of the school year volleyball volleyball team 2016-2017, according to the school's website.
