A woman has died after being hit by a car near Hedgerow Castle, where I’m This year’s Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! is being filmed.
The collision occurred at a location called Middle Gate on Abergele Road, near Llanddulas, a mile from the listed building hosting ITV’s reality show for the next two weeks.
Police say the female pedestrian was struck by a blue Volvo estate car at around 5.06pm on Saturday (Nov. 21), reports the Daily Post.
The woman, from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Volvo was left shocked, but was not injured by the collision.
Sergeant Emlyn Hughes of the Roads Policing Unit said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this tragic incident, or who may have dashcam photographs, to contact the Roads Policing Unit.
“The road remains closed and will be for some time as we carry out our investigations.”
The spot has become an attraction for I’m A Celebrity fans who have been traveling to take pictures of the famous castle.
It’s unclear whether the woman was trying to get a picture at the time.
The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed to The Sun that they had dispatched two rapid response vehicles and two emergency ambulances to the scene around 5pm.
Australia’s Wales-based I’m A Celebrity venue was swapped this year when travel was disrupted as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
ITV settled on the historic Gwrych Castle with a crew descending on the ground before the November launch to get the 200-year-old building ready to host their celebs.
Competitors including Jordan North, Vernon Kay and Beverley Callard entered the castle earlier this month where they have been living alongside nine other famous faces and conducting Bushtucker Trials.
While the hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have been presenting live from the castle every night.
