The Atlantic Alliance announced a statement on the situation with the retention of Ukrainian ships in the River Kerch, where he expressed his support for Ukraine.

"NATO supports Ukraine and will continue to provide political and practical support to the country as part of the established cooperation"– he said in a statement.

The block calls on Russia to secure unauthorized access to the ports and freight of Ukrainian navigation, as well as immediately releasing sailors.

NATO stressed that they will continue to monitor the situation.

Earlier, NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg discussed with President Ukrainian Petro Poroshenko the introduction of martial law in the country.

Recall, in the light of the assault in Russia in the area of ​​the Azov-Black Sea, an emergency of the Ukraine-NATO commission was held urgently. This was over the phone agreed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg NATO. The Ukrainian president called for increasing international pressure on Russia to release Ukrainian makers and hijackers immediately.

Meanwhile, in connection with the events in the Kerch Valley, the SBU is investigating an aggressive war cause by the Russian Armed Forces, the wound of six Ukrainian sailors and seizure of three ships. A criminal case began under the articles on the promotion and execution of an aggression war (part 2 of article 437 of the Criminal Code) and a prescribed murder attempt (part 2 of article 15, paragraph 1 of part 2 of article 115).

As previously reported "FACTS", on November 25, Russia opened a fire on the Ukrainian ships on the exit of the River Kerch, and allegedly "be in the inner Russian sea waters". The Russian fleet came to three Ukrainian ships, and 23 sailors themselves became de facto prisoners of war.
