Organizers of the oldest "Car of the Year" (Car of the Year) competition, held since 1964, have announced a short list of competitors for this prestigious award. Seven cars claim to win. The jury's decision will be announced in March in Geneva, before the opening night of the International Motor Show, Chronicle.info reports, identifying Infocar.
The final competitors list included: Alpine A110, Jaguar I-Pace, Ford Focus, Kia Ceed, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Peugeot 508 and Citroen C5 Aircross.
The jury of the "European Car of the Year" competition includes 58 journalists from 22 countries. With all of them having 25 points, they should distribute at their discretion between the cars – the participants of the competition.
This year, the compact Crossover Volvo XC40 has become a European car per year. The small Swedish SUV, who analyzed the last fall, was 325 points. The second place went to Seat Ibiza with a score of 242 points, while the bronze went to BMW 5-Series, which earned 226 points. In the fourth site was Kia Stinger, fast sports (204 points), and in the fifth place where the C3 Aircross Cross (173 points) crossed a compact.

In 2017, the Peugeot 3008 became a European car of the year. As well as the French car, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Citroen C3, Mercedes E-Сlass, Nissan Micra, Toyota C-HR, as well as two Volvo models: S90 and V90 claimed the winner of the competition.
