Serious vulnerability in “Facebook Messenger” that allows spying on users

Read news: Facebook announced that it had fixed a “fatal error” in its “Messenger” application, after several spying and hacking incidents were reported, according to ZDnet reports.

The source said a cybersecurity expert discovered a security vulnerability that “hackers” used to spy on users using phones running the Android operating system.

The expert informed the company “Facebook” last month about this gap, but it wasn’t corrected until this week.

Natalie Silvanovic, a researcher in the “Project Zero” security team, said in a tweet on her Twitter account that Facebook gave her a $ 60,000 reward after she helped report the bug.

To capture the victim, the intruder must initiate a voice call containing an invisible code (within the communication) specifically designed for hacking purposes, and can then listen to the victim’s voice even if it is not answer the call.

“This report is among the top three awards we have for errors and omissions,” Facebook said in a statement, which reflects its potentially significant impact.

Silvanovic in 2018 discovered a flaw in WhatsApp, which allows attackers to hack any phone, that is, after the user answers a video call.
