A few weeks ago, the German logistics company DHL announced that it would establish a supply service for Päckli in Switzerland. The opening of the first parcel depot in Switzerland shows that DHL is serious about the assault at the post office.
Parcels are thriving in Switzerland. That's a pleasing post office. But also the online retailers in Switzerland whose main partners are parcel services. You now have more choice as the Swiss DHL competition increases. And it could provide for lower prices.
A few weeks ago, the German logistics company DHL announced that it would establish a supply service for Päckli in Switzerland. Now the Germans seem to be serious. Today, DHL Parcel (Switzerland) at Winterthur ZH has commissioned the first parcel depot in Switzerland. "The new depot will supply Zurich and Winterthur metropolitan areas," said Blick spokesman.
Up to 9000 shipwidth per day
DHL creates 29 jobs in Winterthur. In the future, 60 employees will work in the parcel depot and in the supply service. That's when the parcel center has expanded and can handle up to 9,000 times a day.
The building, which has been mainly made of wood, can be expanded at short notice. For example, the depot can be extended in the long term, as the company writes in a message. Günter Birnstingel is proud: "With the opening of the depot, we have reached an important milestone in expanding our DHL network further in Switzerland."
