Virgil van Dijk believes that Porto will be a “tough team to play against” when the Champions League resumes next month.

The Liverpool full-back may have been on an international duty as a Dutch captain this week but he has been questioned about Jurgen Klopp men.

Van Dijk played the full 90 minutes in each of the last two games of the Netherlands – scoring in the 4-0 win over Belarus, while continuing our harder night in the 3-2 loss to # 39; r Germany.

When asked about the Liverpool season, Van Dijk told reporters: “With Liverpool, we want to be. Everything is positive.

“We are in the race for the Premiership, and in the race for the Champions League. It's going to be very difficult but we'll be challenging until the end of the two competitions. ”

Liverpool is top of the Premiership table, with Man City being two points back with a game on hand, while Porto, who competes in the tournament, stay in the Champions League finals.

“The experience Liverpool has had in the Champions League final last year will help, but it's no guarantee this season.

“People say Porto is the easiest picture ever – but they're a very hard team to play against. They are not in the finals for no reason, and we must be prepared for them. ”

The £ 75 million defender is the bookmaker's favorite for the PFA Player of the Year award, but he is calm about all the hype.

“It's nice if people talk about me about the Player of the Season – there are a few players who have done particularly well in the Premier League.

“And I'm not sure I'll vote for myself – we'll see,” he said.
