An organic recipe, one of Italy, is available in all member countries, except in Germany, Ferero
First, the problem over the difference in Nutella's quality is the result of different recipes in production, as well as consumer traditions and tastes.
Mari-Pauli Benasi, Director of the General Directorate for Justice and Consumer Protection of the European Commission, was noted on a roundtable on consumer rights held in Zagreb.
In recent years, several studies in some Member States have indicated that there are differences in the composition and characteristics of the same brands between, mainly, the markets of the east and "old" members. According to the Commission, their results are not due to different ways of collecting samples, testing and interpreting data comparatively, writing Tportal.
"We spoke to Ferrera, the owner of the Nutella product, so he explained to us that they had two recipes, an official recipe, an Italian one, available in every member of the countries except in Germany, a different recipe is used there, "she replied when she asked for a problem of dual quality products on the European market, in connection with the Nutella case.
"Ferero has been working on changing prescriptions to bring the Italian recipe to all users. In Italy, the original Italian recipe will be available, such as in France and in other countries," added Benassi.
Benassi also noted that there is no clear definition of quality in the European Union, which depends much on the tradition and taste of people. He noted that there is a broad EU legislative framework that protects consumer rights, although the user emphasizes the consumer's awareness of their rights as the most important.
