At the moment –
The first private cannabis shops opened on Monday in Ontario, triggering a consumer feeling in this most populous Canadian state, nearly six months after legalizing the drug for recreational purposes.
Since legalization on 17 October, Ontarians only managed to get cannabis by ordering online from the government distribution company.
In Toronto, dozens of people were camping by night in front of the only shop in this metropolis of nearly three million people, to open on Monday.
"It's amazing to be able to go (buy cannabis) in a shop without the risk of prosecution, now it's legal," says AFP Stephanie, after waiting for twelve hours in front of Hunny Pot shop.
"They've probably done a good job in decorating the interior, it's sophisticated," says David, one of the first customers of this store. "In general, it's nice to be able to buy leisure cannabis in a legal store, for adults".
