Ivan Smirnov was born in Moscow on September 9, 1955. He was a member of the "Vita Guitar" and "Arsenal" jazz-rock-ensemble. He took part in the recording of 31 music collections. He wrote and performed music for seven films, including "Fighting the Shelter – 2" and "House of Fools", as well as the documentary "Russian Factor" by journalist Jack Hemann for CNN .
