Noémia Carneiro, born in Guimarães in 1953, was also a teacher at the University of Minho and was an undesirable figure of the Vincentian society.
Received the Municipal Social Merit Medal two years ago in the serious stimulating session in the context of celebrations "24th June – One Day of Portugal".
From 1980, he developed his professional activity at the University of Minho and, nine years later, he was appointed Associate Professor of Textile Engineering Department, becoming Director of the Department in January 2013, a job that had held until then.
After a number of interventions in local youth associations, he was first engaged in the local society in the Guimarães Association's Wal Association for Heritage Protection, whose social organs have been involved for more than twenty years in a row, with a special commitment to protect and appraisal of county patrimony. In the 2004/2006 season, he was also part of Vitória Council, an organ of Vitória Sport Clube.
At the invitation of the Presiding Officer of the General Assembly, he joined the Administrative Board of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia at the beginning of the present century, becoming an Ombudsman in 2004.
In a press release, the Chamber stated that "its technical competence, humanity, modernizing spirit and social ideology are essential for the construction of the present reality of the Holy House Mercy of Guimarães".
"In particular in terms of modernizing management, conservation and restoration of its ongoing building, the sustainability of the organization, using its facilities for new equipment in the health area, and the dynamics of care provided to users of the controlled multiple units by Santa Casa ", one reads.
At present, he was also part of the Regional Secretariat of the Misericórdias Portuguese Union, where he was present with communication at different conferences and seminars on social economy, quality in the IPSS and policies for the restoration, retention and dissemination of patrimonies.
Noémia Carneiro's body is in a daunting chamber at St António dos Capuchos Church, where the funeral ceremonies will be held on Tuesday, November 13, at 3:30 p.m., and then buried in the Atouguia Borough Cemetery.
