Three teenagers in the Bergen District Court are responsible for having a cat abused and drowned. Young people are on group pressure.
Young people, two girls and a boy should have roughly abused the cat after they caught him in a sack, writing Bergensavisen. Then the young people will drown the cat in the sea after filling in the bag with stones.
– The three young people have explained differently and claim that they have been exposed to peer pressure that has evolved. They are indebted to each other, and none of them take full responsibility, says police lawyer Alexander Sele in the Western Police Area.
Sele says that the police have a video that shows parts of the abuse. Young people are responsible for breach of animal welfare law. The boy is also responsible for being distressed and killing with hedgehog.
– I have looked at case law in this area a bit, and we do not have many similar cases. Here, there is mention of gross crimes of animal welfare law. Initially, it will be punished with an unqualified prison. As these are under the age of 18, we will consider other options such as youth sequence or youth penalty, says Sele.
