A suspicious fire in a cafe in the town of Granity

A fire that had damaged a café in the town of Granity in West West Coast was presumed suspicious.

New Zealand Fire and Emergency spokesman Lyn Crosson said firefighters were called to the Drifters café in St Torea at around 11.45pm on Saturday.

He attended three fire engines, one from Granity, Westport and Waimangaroa, the scene.

Crews were of the opinion that the building was "good enough" on arrival.
