Moroccan will host the 2019 African Games



Morocco and the African Union (AU) signed yesterday, Saturday in Rabat, the memorandum of understanding giving on the reign of the African Games 2019 organization.

This issue, for the first time, will cover more than fifteen sports disciplines, at least eight of them eligible for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Signed by the Minister for Youth and Sport, Rachid Talbi El Alami, for the Moroccan Government, and by the Commissioner for Social Affairs, Amira El Fadil, for the Commission of the UA, this agreement specifies Morocco is a country that hosts these four-year games in the cities of Rabat and Casablanca.

In this regard, Talbi El Alami said that after leaving the country that was initially designated for the organization, Morocco has only left 10 months after preparing for these Games, which should be started at the Youth Day event next year.

At least 5,000 athletes will take part in this event. Various disciplines will be represented at this event, at least eight of them will be eligible for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

A joint commission will work to complete the list of disciplines that will take part in the African Games, says El Fadil, stating that there will be at least 15 sports.

The African edition's 12th edition, organized every four years by the Association of the National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the UCSA, will see the participation of 5,000 athletes, as well as officials from 54 ANOCA countries.
