increase in wind power capacity during the first quarter


China recorded an increase of 4.78 million kilowatts of wind power capacity in the first quarter of 2019, according to data released by the National Energy Ministry.

Qinghai Province (northwest) was the first in the country in terms of new wind power capacity, adding 680,000 kilowatts during this period.

The provinces of Henan and Hebei provinces were the second and third, with a new capacity of 660,000 kilowatts and 450,000 kilowatts respectively.

China has increased its investments in renewable energy in recent years. The country produced 104.1 billion kWh of electricity from wind power in the first quarter, up 6.3 per cent year on year.
