A hasty exit by Rodolfo Cota (criminal), gestures by JJ Macías that had already been seen before a punishment (like a nervous tick in the eye) and some comments – in a clear joking tone – on Instagram reveal a huge media mess on semifinal back of the first leg between Chivas and León.
That many fans are doing more passionately than rational remarks might be understandable. What was amazing about all this scandal was seeing the suggestion of many ‘journalists’ and commentators – and in some cases ensuring – that Rodolfo Cota had deliberately failed and allowed himself to be marked in front of his former team and his former teammate.
In the midst of the circus set up, León’s board of directors, with details like hanging a flag at the Nou Camp mark and with several posts on their digital platforms, expressed their support for their guardian. Nacho Ambriz, knowing they were in the middle of the tie, chose not to speak in the semifinal preview of Chapter II. The DT saved his speech for the end of the series (The fair on to the final, incidentally).
AMBRIZ WORDS ABOUT THE COTA-MACAIDAS NEGES
“If I blame you, the press, for the Cota thing. I think it’s not right, because you suddenly say this is a show. And this is not a show. For the kids, for the wife, for Cota’s parents it’s not a show. And that really bothers me a lot. Very much. Lots of people, and chances are I won’t be wrong, a lot of press people shook the fans. And the fans were also wrong to criticize Cota. This is not valid. This is football. And when it comes to playing football, the first person to protect my players is me. Because you didn’t know what Cota’s wife and children suffered. And, today, I think that Cota has closed many, many, mouths of what Cota is as a football professional ”.
“El primero en defender a mis jugadores soy yo, y lo que hicieron con Cota no se vale. Esto no es un show, hay familias detrás”.

The same could be said louder, but not more clearly.
And the DT of The fair you are right.
Untreated data. With Chivas, Rodolfo Cota was Liga MX champion, two-time Copa MX champion, Concachampions champion and Supercopa MX champion. In addition, he was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper in the MX League and won the Concachampions Gold Glove. From arriving as a substitute, to leaving as an efferent.
Did you know…? Rodolfo Cota reported with León in 2018, after Chivas could not make the purchase option valid. During these few years he has remained one of the best goalkeepers in the championship.
