A million Lebanon visited Turkey in 8 months

Libanus ambassador revealed to Ankara, Ghassan al-Muallem, that a million Lebanese had visited Turkey during the first eight months of this year.

This came in a speech at a ceremony held in the Ankara capital for the 75th anniversary of Lebanon's independence, attended by the Turkish Interior Minister, Suleiman Suelo, diplomats, business, academics and many other invites.

He noted that Turkey and Lebanon shared the same history, culture, food and customs, emphasizing the close links between the two countries.

He added: "Turkey has visited a million Lebanese during the first eight months of this year," stating that this figure accounts for about 20 percent of the country's population.

He emphasized that his country always stood by Palestinian and Palestinian affairs, and is always willing to work with Turkey at all times.

Meanwhile, Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Suwailo said that Ankara would continue to stand against any attempt to stabilize Lebanon.

This came in a speech on Thursday, at an invitation organized by the Lebanese Embassy in the Turkish city of Ankara, for the 75th anniversary of the Lebanese independence of France.

Sawilo emphasized that he had been making constant and lasting efforts to raise bilateral relations with Lebanon.

He noted that the two countries will be published jointly in 2010.

He noted the importance of the cooperation agreement between the two countries in the field of security and tackling terrorism, organized crime and drugs.

He emphasized that the approach followed by Turkey in protecting Libanus's independence and sovereignty was clear and in good faith.

"As in the past, Turkey will continue to stand against any attempt to stabilize Lebanon."
