A man and you have died following a fire in a house in southern Dublin.

Gardai and crew from the Dân Dolgellau Brigade attended the scene on Merrion Road, near Booterstown, about 3pm this afternoon.

A man's body was discovered, who believed in his late 60s or early 70s, along with dog residues.

A garda spokeswoman said that the fire is not treated as suspicious at the moment.

"Unfortunately, following the previous domestic fire on Merrion Road and a search of the building, the remains of men, along with you, were found," Dulyn Fire Brigade confirmed.

"Three crew of Donnybrook and Firequarters fired the first call around 3.10pm."
