For sale starting from IDR 500 million, Eclipse Cross PHEV officially launches all pages

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – After circulating through leaked silhouettes and photos spyshotMitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has finally officially launched the new generation of Eclipse Cross in Japan. Aside from having a fresher design, this mid-size SUV also gets a PHEV (Plug-in Electric Electric Vehicle) variant.

The launch of this model also makes the Eclipse Cross the second Mitsubishi PHEV car after the Outlander PHEV.

Previously, orders for this car opened from October 2020. MMC is also targeting Eclipse Cross PHEV to sell up to 2,000 units in six weeks.

Takao Kato, CEO of MMC, said his company has upgraded the environment-friendly technology and 4WD typical of Mitsubishi Motors to a higher level.

“With the innovative strength of PHEV technology and the 4WD expertise we built through the rally experience, we have nurtured the essence of Mitsubishi in this redesigned model,” Kato said, in an official statement (4/12/2020).

“The new Eclipse Cross is the ideal partner for drivers who want to do more with their cars, and are looking for new challenges,” he said.

According to Kato, in the future Mitsubishi will also launch more and more environmentally friendly models, with EV and PHEV technology.

“By 2030, we will increase the share of electric vehicles in total sales to 50 percent, with a focus on PHEVs as this new model,” he said.

Broadly speaking, the latest Eclipse Cross design has a dynamic concept typical of modern SUVs. The rear and front have received an update, which makes the car longer than before.

Apart from the outside, changes also continue inside. Now the cabin space looks more elegant and fresh. Rear door changes certainly provide better visibility and more luggage space from the old model.

For the PHEV variant, the latest Eclipse Cross features a 2,400 cc MIVEC engine with two electric motors. While the battery has a power of 13.8 kWh with an all-electric range of 57.3 km (WLTC Mode).

Interestingly, this SUV has a power outlet on board the ship 100 volts AC with a maximum power of 1,500 watts, which can supply power to electronic devices in all conditions.

In an emergency, the Eclipse Cross PHEV can even supply power for home needs for up to 10 days, when fully recharged.

Speaking of prices, in Japan this car is priced at 3,848,900 yen or the equivalent of Rp. 520 million to 4,477,000 yen or the equivalent of Rp. 605 million.

As for the petrol variant, the latest Eclipse Cross is offered at 2,531,100 yen or the equivalent of Rp. 342 million to 3,346,200 yen or the equivalent of Rp. 452 million.
