Bali Airport Increases the Rainfall Forecasting Survey

Start checking of railways, aprons, road markings, and airplane guides

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUTA, BALI – Going to Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, will increase on-going inspections to explore railways, aprons, road markings and airplane guidance lights during the rainy season.

"Ponds on the surface of the runway can interfere with aircraft operations," said General Manager I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Yanus Suprayogi, in Denpasar, Sunday (11/11).

According to him, the drainage system around the runway area is also a major concern so that there are no clogged drains when the rain is high. It will co-ordinate with air traffic controllers or ATCs that provide water presence notices on the surface of the runway.

Later, the information will be forwarded to the pilots as well as issuing Notam notification letters if there is a continuous water puddle on the runway.

In addition to waterways, it will also inspect the areas of the railways, "taxis" and aprons from the distribution of foreign objects that can interfere with the safety of aviation such as animals and equipment.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport and Angkasa Pura had issued a flight safety newsletter during the rainy season.

The airport control said he also helped to ensure the viability of personnel involved in airline operations by co-ordinating with partners including airlines and service officials on land.

Yanus explained that the personnel on duty especially in the airside area should meet the relevant terms and conditions and have licenses and pocket documents according to the conditions.

"Air security is definitely always a priority at Niwro Air Rai," said Yanus.
