May 21, 2019 (Ezega.com) – The US Embassy in Addis Ababa in partnership with the Ethiopian National Electoral Board (NEBE) organized a half day communication workshop for members of Ethiopian political parties, according to a press release from US Embassy.
The workshop focused on supporting the communication ability of the parties as they prepared for forthcoming elections.
In her comments at the workshop, Uus Ambassador to Ethiopia Michael Raynor explained “Having so many different political parties in one place, and in a government building, does not testify to how far Ethiopia has come over the past year. But creating this new political space is just the first step, as difficult and exciting as this. Now the question is what Ethiopians will do with it. ”
The Ambassador also urged participants to look beyond winning or losing and think about how they can lead to Ethiopia's transformation: “If your party wins or loses any particular election, your leadership role is not within Ethiopia's new political space makes nothing less than ensuring Ethiopia's peaceful multi-party future. ”
The workshop was open to all political parties who were focusing on the numerous ways they can connect with their constituencies and the public in presenting their policies and their vision for Ethiopia as Ethiopian people can t make informed choices when casting their vote in the forthcoming election.
