Pancreatic cancer is one of the most asthma diseases with the highest death rate in the total number of patients.
On Thursday November 15, people around the world will remember the need to fight this disease.
Olomouc University Hospital joins the World Pancreas Cancer Day this year with a new clinic and lighting seminar.
Olomouc City Hall will "dress" the historic building of the Town Hall to purple color.
Experts warn that 2100 cases of pancreas cancer will be diagnosed in the Czech Republic this year.
"The 2000 patients die. There is currently no standard test or screening tool for early identification of this disease. So development and research are still searching for signs – markers of the disease. Early diagnosis is essential, "said Čestmír Neoral, Head of Olomouc's First Surgical Clinic.
The cause of most cases of pancreas cancer is not known, but research studies identified risk factors.
"These include family history, diabetes, pancreatitis, smoking, obesity or eating disorders," said Neoral.
The Pancreatic Cancer Day Day symbol is a violet color that identifies the main buildings and the world of the day. This year, the City Hall of Olomouc City has also joined the venture, which will mean that the town hall building is lightly lit.
