Extended range of new version Hyundai Ioniq: Electric


Since 2016, Hyundai has sold over 60,000 Ioniq cars. This electric or hybrid car has now been upgraded.

Ions only offer a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid (called plug-in), and an electric Electric only. So just electric drives.

Maybe the most important change happened with the most environmentally friendly version of Electric. His subject is a new battery whose capacity has increased from 28 to 38.3 kWh. That's 36 percent more. As a result, the standardized range was extended to 294 km from the previous 200 km according to the WLTP introductory methodology.

The new Electric Ioniq drives a 100 kW electric motor and a maximum torque of 295 N.m. Previously, it was 88 kW, and the torque was not modernized. Also new is the more powerful 7.2 kW charger (which replaces the 6.6 kW older) for an AC charge of type 2 socket. If you use a 100 kW stand by charge, the batteries can be raised to 80 percent of their capacity in 54 minutes.

For hybrids, change less

Unlike the electrical version, the Hybrid and Phlug-in variants have remained virtually unchanged in terms of parameters. Both machines are powered by a four liter four liter petrol cylinder engine with a direct petrol injection, supplying 77 kW and a maximum torque of 147 N.m. It works in the Atkinson cycle and has a compression ratio of 13.0: 1.

The hybrid version is supported by a synchronous electric motor with a permanent excitement (magnet) with a power of 32 kW and a maximum torque of 170 N.m. Power is provided by a lithium-ion polymer battery 1.56 kWh.

In the case of Plug-in, the internal combustion engine is the same. A similarly designed electric motor, however, offers a power of 44.5 kW. The top torque doesn't change. A polymer lithium-ion battery is also used, this time with a capacity of 8.9 kWh and voltage increased from 240 to 360 volts. The manufacturer reports a hybrid system performance of 104 kW, the top torque of 265 N.m.

The electrical version suffers a reduction gear of 7.412: 1, the hybrid versions use automatic two-clutter transfer.

The suspension technique is also different. The electric version uses a lying bar in the back, sure to increase the battery mounting space. Hybrid variants received multi-element suspension. Management is also different. Hybrid variations (Hybrid and Phlug-in) have a 13.9: 1 steeper conversion, so their drivers can turn the steering wheel 2.66 times between full bends. The electric version has a less steep path with 15.1: 1 and 2.85 steering wheel turns between stops. However, the turning radius of 5.3 meters is the same for both (the navigation tools are measured in the middle position).

The engine can be started remotely

An interesting feature of the electrical version is the possibility of starting or stopping the remote engine via a smartphone. This is possible through the Hyundai Blue Link network connection, and in order to manage the remote unit, you have to have the proper application to download in your smartphone. Other features that make this possible include mentioning climate control or car door locks. In addition, the Plug-in and Electric versions can be used to determine the battery charge status.

The new Ioniq also comes with an emergency email call system. If the car has a GPS navigation, it will be possible to use LIVE Services. This includes, for seven years, free information about the current weather, traffic, speeding locations, and more.

Changes in appearance

Since production began, the individual Ioniqu versions are different at first glance. A hybrid and plug-in grill has a classic radiator with engine radiator niches. An electric version had a full mask. The pumper's design is new with a silver bar at the bottom.

Plug-in and Electric versions use the new 16 inch light wheels, while the hybrid version offers 15 inch or 17 inch wheels to customers. We will soon return to the new Ioniqu with Plug-in test.
