Violence against women is considered a problem by 71 percent of Czech. This is the result of a recent survey by Focus for Amnesty International CR. An overwhelming majority of respondents, 84 per cent, believe that more attention should be paid than ever to stop. However, this clear data does not mean that there is a comprehensive document on tackling violence against women, preventing and assisting victims, the Istanbul Convention, fitted in roses in the country.
There were two petitions in the Chamber that are in direct contrast. There were 10,556 people signing confirmation of the convention, 12,662 citizens voted the opposite view. The representatives of the two camps yesterday met one of the most serious public hearings of the petition committee. The penetration of the convention, which speaks about the need to combat violence against women, but the paragraphs that contains the concept of sex, is not emotional.
"This is comparatively," said Radka Max, chairman of the House of Commons, "although the text of the agreement clearly states that violence should be punished, regardless of the offender." Article 14 of the Convention states that children should be led to identifying gender equality, gender roles without stereotypes, mutual respect, and solving unlawful conflict in interpersonal relationships.
The harassment surrounding the convention was opened by the priest Peter Pitha, who condemned the text in his recent sermon. "Your families will be torn away. It will be enough for the children to say that the man and the woman are not the same. For each disagreement, you will be deported to & # 39; The educational restorative labor camps of deprivation character. Homosexuals will be declared better than the awarding class, "said Pithha. According to Max, his speech has led some MPs and parliamentaries to change their views and support the Istanbul Convention.
The deputies and parliamentaries should confirm the document at the beginning of next year. "I OI, there's one of the priorities if we did not support it, it would mean that OO is unfavorable to violence," Max told the Daily. The text supports the CSSD and the Pirates, against the KDUs, in part ODS and SPD. Even the YES club is not uniform. Against the convention, for example, Patrik Nacher and Aleš Juchelk are deputies. Both of them judge that refusal of the convention does not mean the approval of violence. Juchelka is convinced, for example, that general support for victims of domestic violence or other violence can occur without undertaking commitments whose impact is uncertain.
The current argument is a positive interest in the issue, which means various misunderstandings of myths. According to the Focus survey, for example, 58 per cent of respondents still think that the victim of the crime was co-responsible for the crime (she was fierce, she was wearing & Inappropriate, going non-company etc).
