The president of the United States, Donald Trump, Once again, he showed his address against General Motors Automakers for his decision to close a number of plants in Michigan and Ohio, so he announced that they will be studying to cancel the subsidy provided by the federal government to the company this.
Having been very disappointed with General Motors and CEO, Mary Barra, for closing plants in Ohio, Michigan and Maryland. But there is nothing closing in Mexico and China. The USA rescued General Motors, and this is the thank you! Now we're studying to reduce all subsidies to GM, "Trump tweeted.
Her warning came the day after GM announced a 15% cut in her workforce and closed five plants in the United States, two of them in places like Michigan and Ohio who won Trump tightly in the 2016 election.
"General Motors made a big bet in China years ago when they planted a number of plants there (and in Mexico) but I think their bet will not work. I'm here to protect American workers."
GM said his decision had based on weak sales of small cars assembled in those two factories and said he wanted to direct his efforts towards independent cars and other new technologies.
Vehicle & US makers also suffer from aluminum and steel tariffs, but GM said that that did not affect their decision.
Currently, the US offers subsidies of between 2,500 and 7,500 dollars for each electric vehicle depending on the model. GM produces the extra-electric Chevrolet Bolt, but that type of car does not bring much to the company's revenue.
