The Health Inspectorate calls consumers to know the benefits of GAU HEAW to face diabetes

The invitation is for all users of the health system to know the attention and treatments, which provide basic professional safety and support, to cope with the treatment of diabetes.

The Health Inspectorate invites the population to learn about the protection and benefits provided by AUGE GES for people diagnosed with diabetes, within the international day framework of this disease.

Zonal agent Valparaso, Francisco Segura, recommends first to know through a professional consultation about the type of diabetes the person suffers: We call consumers to know first, through professional consultation, the type of diabetes that suffers before knowing the benefit of the GES. There are two types whose scope includes specific features for each.

Type 1 Diabetes is characterized by high blood glucose levels, in the product of destroying pancreatic cells, leading to absolute insulin deficiency and essential dependency on the insulin. It is stated because it can occur at any age, with classic symptoms such as abnormal increase in thirst (Polydipsia), an increase in urine production (polyuria), an abnormal increase in the need to eat (Polyphagia), rapid weight loss, or with Diabetic ketoacidosis characterized by dehydration and various degrees of awareness compromise. Children often start with severe ketoacidosis.

Type 2 diabetes is characterized by high blood glucose levels, an insulin-resistant product, which usually has a relative insulin deficiency. It is noted not to be very symptomatic, which is mainly adult, as it is diagnosed in around 50% of cases through laboratory tests requested for another cause and not because of clinical doubt. The rare clinical symptomatic determines, with high frequency, that it is slowly diagnosed and in the presence of chronic complications. This type of diabetes increases with age, hypertension / obesity and physical inactivity, which are usually associated with other pathways of high cardiovascular risk, such as high blood pressure and dyslipidemia.

Both types of Diabetes have different access and opportunity guarantees:
In the case of Diabetes 1, all beneficiaries with type 1 diabetes suspected due to exams having a diagnostic confirmation from an expert within 7 days will have access. In cases of suspected lack of consistency, you will have access to diagnostic confirmation through a blood glucose test within 30 minutes of medical attention in the Emergency Department. On the other hand, the treatment should be started for both cases within 24 hours of diagnosis.

In Diabetes 2, all beneficiaries with type 2 diabetes suspected with high blood glucose levels will have access to diagnostic confirmation within 45 days. On the other hand, the treatment must begin within 24 hours of diagnosis. In the cases requiring attention by a specialist by medical sign, this must be done within 90 days of the referral.
