Samsung could have paid Niantic to develop unique functions

[ad_1]

Coaches!

We have received many emails and comments asking for them noise: no cooperation between Samsung and Niantic; The first one could have paid 40 million dollars to the second for developing unique Samsung functions in the games (mainly Harry Potter games).

We want to give your opinion on the subject, starting with the stunning details:

  • The rumor appeared for the first time in The Inquirer, an English web on technology that made successful leaks in the past. Although its successes are not too much, the truth is that some are very media and (maybe) a bit over-dimensional.

With this in mind, we can review the details of the "agreement":

  • Samsung would invest 40 million dollars for "unique cooperation" with Niantic. Pokémon GO would not be included.
  • Niantic would not be willing to make agreements on Pokémon GO (thank you, sir) but Harry Potter (not necessarily Wizards Unite) games may probably use the touch of Samsung to be a blank.
  • The figure of 40 million would have come after a long war between the two companies.
  • Ingress, and priori, would not be included in the agreement either.

We know that Niantic is doing quite well with the Pokémon GO, as we know that Units Wizards are being developed along with the Warner Bros. Games. The game will be announced by the Portkey Games but – as they set out in the Frequently Asked Questions – developed by Warner Bros and Niantic in conjunction. Putting Samsung in the equation could mean we could wait for a new Harry Potter game. Why? Because the agreement with Niantic would be difficult if it also included a third company such as Warner Bros.

We also know that Samsung is breaking into the mobile video game market. Her latest attempt would have Fortnite have to set in advance on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. It's easy to imagine the reasons why they would have looked at Niantic but why it was not Warner Bros?

Finally, we know that John Hanke has appeared at the Samsung 2018 Developer Conference (along with Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Fortnite Games), which is currently the only connection between Niantic and Samsung:

Things that we do not know:

  • Who told this information "filter". The source of the leak would be anonymous. Suspect, okay?
  • Why that person (if any) gives that information in particular to the filter.
  • Why something like this would be secret. We know that Niantic has unique functions for Apple (with Apple Watch and Pokémon GO) Why would they keep this secret?

If the rumors are true (and we believe they are not), only some functions would be compatible with Samsung peripheral. Do not put many wings to the noise because, as well, nothing indicates that it has anything to do with a GO Pokémon.
