La Tercera Editorial on HIV in Chile is timely and very successful (20.02.2019) As noted, the reasons among its various cases in general should be sought, without adjudicating anyone, prioritizing the most urgent and consolidation of those who are more medium and long-term.
In this context it should be remembered that the main increase occurs in the population aged between 18 and 29 and there are even cases in children under the age of 18. If we add that, according to a survey by the University of Chile, 50.4% used marijuana during the survey. 58% sexual and alcohol links, we find that the problem is not limited to a risk factor. If we add that the use of farijuana and alcohol is Chilean youth is the highest in Latin America, we are in the presence of a much more complex problem than for partial approaches. Due to immediate measures, timely diagnosis and condom use should be promoted. As a medium-term and long-term plan that addresses increasing trend, a Program for Adolescent Risk Prevention is needed, taking an active part in health, education community and family.
