A yellow fever vaccine is mandatory for Brazilian and African pilgrimages to enter the country

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) indicated that the yellow fever vaccine was one of the mandatory requirements for admission to a country of pilgrimage from Brazil and Africa countries in the framework of the 2019 World Youth Day (WYD).

"On the WYD theme, the recommendations that are being made to a pilgrimage to those coming from areas that are in danger of having yellow fever, namely Brazil and the continent of Africa. they are vaccinated before arriving in Panama, that is the only vaccine internationally requested as a migrant requirement ", at Telemetro Reporta, national coordinator of Epidemiological Survey, Israel Cedeño.

On its behalf, the co-ordinator of the wider immunization program, Itzel Hewitt, stated that the vaccine application was free, but B / .20.00 is for nationals and B / .100.00 for foreigners for an international card that is for life .

Hewitt explained that Panamanians were not required to be vaccinated against a yellow fever before LIW 2019, but it is recommended that they apply the basic measles, rubella and tetanus vaccines to those who are not yet with them .

"We're going every weekend at a national level in all the churches, we work with those from foster families and apply the measles, measles, rubella and tetanus, which are the basics ", confirm.

The World Youth Day will take place in Panama from January 22 to 27, and about 200,000 people have been registered as pilgrims to visit Panama and witness the visit of Pope Francis.
