54 employees of Erie Flooring & Wood Products have been dismissed at the same time for Christmas holidays.
Chris Austin, president of West Lorne's floor manufacturing company, said the workers were released temporarily until mid-late January.
"The plant does not close," said Austin.
Saul Marques, Local Representative 1-500 of United Steel Workers said that all employees in the union unit had been eliminated apart from two.
Marques said they had not had a date when the workers returned to the work.
"They do not know sure," said Marques.
Marques said that the company usually placed some workers around the Christmas season, but there were enough orders this year not to take place.
Erie Flooring & Wood Products was acquired by a group of Floin Hardwood Flooring companies in North York in the 1970s. The companies have been in the flooring business since the 1920s, according to its website.
