A female walker has died after being hit by a train at Alta Vista, police said Thursday afternoon.

Officers were called at 2:07 p.m.

Pleasant Park Road is closed between Leslie Avenue and Chavendish Road for the investigation.

In a statement, VIA Rail confirmed one of the trains that carry 127 passengers traveling between Toronto and Ottawa in the crash, "including a trespasser on the Beachburg division at 2:00 p.m. today.

"Passengers or train crew were not injured during the event."
