Ken Holland to be a new GM

The last days in the Oilersnation have turned our Ken Holland Watch and now we are closer than ever to completing a contract.

Reports by Darren Dreger and Ryan Rishaug point to Ken Holland becoming the next General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers. As you have probably noticed, discussions between the Netherlands and Nicholson have increased in the last week, and we are now finding that Holland is informing Red Wings today of his decision.

As you can see above, it's not yet official, but every sign is directed to almost its completion. With news coming out on Friday that Bob Nicholson had offered the Dutch full independence to the organization, there was no doubt that the Dutch would do the ultimate job. It was just a matter of time.

Ken Holland, who has been General Manager of Detroit for the last 22 years, and who has won three Stanley Cup and made them much Playoff appearances, will now turn to Edmonton for his latest project. The Detroit movement has certainly had a few seasons late, but there is no doubt that Holland has a valuable experience that he can bring to our club. I expect the official announcement to come in the next day.
