The Ottawa police have asked for public support after the opening of a homicide investigation into the death of Gaetan Jolin 55.
Jolin was found to have "been hurtly injured" at Jolliet Avenue (in the 0-100 block) at Vanier on Wednesday, the police went on Friday night. He died about 14 hours later in hospital, Sgt Staff. Bruce Pirt said Friday.
The police responded to the address after receiving a 911 call about 2 p.m., said Pirt, but he refused to discuss the nature of the injuries.
"We're not going to talk about a cause of death right now," said Pirt. "We have to talk to more witnesses."
He said this was the post-mortem examination that he confirmed he was killing. People found Jolin a "medical need" called 911, said Pirt.
The major crime unit is investigating. Anyone with information about the location of Jolin was asked on Tuesdays and Wednesdays – specifically Wednesday morning – contact the major crime unit on 613-236-1222, est. 5493, @CrimeStoppersOT at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at https://t.co/O8q5oWK2yN.
"We need to decide what was going on," said Pirt.
