A body discovered in the countryside of the County of Strathcona, who was awarded a homicide

The major crime department of the RCMP says that a man who died in a rural property in the County of Strathcona on Thursday suffered homicide.

Following an autopsy by the chief medical officer's office in Edmonton Friday, police reported the dead man as Gursumeet Singh Brar, 25, from Sherwood Park.

The investigation continues with the help of the RCMP forensic identification department and the general investigations department of the County of Strathcona, said RCMP Cpl. Chris Warren.

RCMP said there is no danger to public safety.

The police found the dead man on the rural property at Highway 14 and Range Road 231 in the Strathcona County after receiving a 911 call at 8:34 a.m. Thursday.
