Tesla sales in China have fallen – Automotive News

In the past month, Tesla sold 70% fewer electricity cars in China than in October 2017, the Chinese Car Association said. The agency stressed that the fall due to the US-Podlabesky trade war.

All Tesla production for the Chinese market is imported from the US, and the 40 percent equivalent tariffs introduced by Beijing raise the cost of the ever-cost electromobiles of California. This is against the unprecedented growth background in green car sales in China since the middle of the year.

In an attempt to assert investors last week, Ilon Musk announced that Tesla would cut the Model S and Model X prices for the Chinese market to make it "more affordable" and reduce the hit. The company has already bought land for its factory in Shanghai in the future – the first outside the US.
