As announced, the professional federation organized a symbolic act to request the reopening of the salons on December 14th.
“We asked the hairdressers to put their hairdressers outside on Saturday”, declared the president of the Coiffure.org professional federation, Jef Vermeulen. Some even styled, while respecting sanitary measures, a member of their social bubble. This was the case, for example, this Saturday afternoon, at Tanina Coiffure’s salon, rue Famelette, in Seraing
As a reminder, hairdressers are deeply disappointed by the decision of the Advisory Committee to keep hairdressing salons closed. The professional federation emphasizes that its members are perfectly capable of safely opening their doors despite the coronavirus.
Professionals also point out that clients are putting more and more pressure on them to make an appointment “in secret” because they want to benefit them for year-end celebrations. No less than 80% say that clients have already contacted them for this purpose.
Finally, the support measures are considered inadequate. More than 75% of hairdressers fear that their activity is under threat from this crisis.
