Further investment in diesel development continues: "We are working on the next generation of diesel engines, which will start in 2020," reports the end of the plant. In the development center, new "complex electric motor components" are being built, says Schröder. Stromer's cooling circuits would also be developed and tested at Steyr.

With these activities, Schröder wants to destroy the impression that the plant does not have in Steyr in the future. It also tries to relate to the elimination of a single layer on the only pure diesel engine band: "We do the same number of units, but we can do it in a full two-shift operation better than in three poorly used shifts."

Top employment

Therefore, job cuts have led to a reduction in temporary employees in the "double range". "It's about less than two percent of the workforce". Schröder emphasizes that there have been 750 jobs in the last two years. With 3610 employees and employees, the core workforce is at the highest level (plus 4.6 per cent). In addition, there will be 1035 leasing powers at the end of 2018 (less than three per cent per annum).
