The Oklahoma City Council OKs plan for a secure injection site, which requires final approval of the state

DENVER – Denver City Council 12-1 voted to approve a scheme that would allow a secure injection site to be built at the Mile High City.

However, steps need to be taken to actually open one in Denver. A state legislature will need to pass a law to allow public funds to fund sites in Colorado.

There are safe spray sites to allow local drug users to be overseen to use hard drugs such as heroin and cocaine. It would also keep drug users from using in public places and the advocates of the idea say that the sites also reduce the disease and save lives from drug overdose.

Objectors objectors argue that it allows drug users to continue their dependency and even encourage drug use.

If he gets final approval, Denver would be among a number of US cities to get the sites.
