An Australian mother has revealed how she spends just $ 80 a week to feed her family of four as well as their two pets.
Kylie Gough, from Adelaide, posted receipts from her fortnightly shop on a popular savings forum this week, revealing only her grocery bill to $ 161.44.
In the job, Kylie explained that she had been shopping fortnightly for herself, her husband, their two children, six and three, as well as the family cat and the dog.
For only $ 161, Kylie bought enough food to prepare breakfast, lunch, lunch and household consumables for two weeks.
“We will need to add to milk and last only next week, maybe another $ 10,” he wrote.
“I'm happy enough with my effort.”
The job generated a lot of support from other mothers and claimed that they wanted them to stop themselves spending more on their grocery store.
“That is striking. I'm $ 500 – $ 600 a fortnight with 2 adults and 1 year old and 4 years old, ”wrote one woman.
“Hubby and I try so hard to reduce food bills but fail woefully.”
Speaking to news.com.au, Kylie said that she had started planning and budgeting two years ago after the household income fell significantly.
“I took a $ 100k pay cut when I moved jobs, so I had no choice but to make changes to the way I was spending,” said Kylie.
“I tried to budget our life to suit the amount of money coming into it.” T
Since then the mother of two has changed jobs but says she still likes the challenge of saving money to her family every fortnight.
“I spend between $ 150 and $ 180 on foods every week, depending on what is needed,” he said.
Most of the comments on the job from mothers asked how he had managed to spend as little as possible to feed such a large family.

Shaving the dollars off her food bill has given Kylie a huge buzz because money can be spent on her two children down the track.
MAKE A PLAN
Every fortnight, Kylie sits down to create a lunch plan for her family.
“For example, we plan to make lasagne so there will be enough for two meals and lunch the following day,” he said.
“If I buy a roast cook, I use the leftovers to create a brand new meal, and I count for that in my meal plan too.” T
She also bake muffins and cakes for her children's school dinners.
BUY IN THE BULK
Kylie says “buying in bulk is an important part of budgeting”.
Her receipts show that she buys a lot of vegetables with her frozen to add to most dishes by the fortnight.
Most of the ingredients that we buy are the cheaper brand Coles.
He will be looking for cheaper meat cuts, such as a 1kg BBQ package, or cuts that are for sale that week.
“I buy lots of vegetables that are in season, because they are always cheaper,” he said.
Kylie also lives near the Bellis food factory outlet, which says she is the perfect place for her to try out cheap snacks for her children.
“I go out there and spend nothing without stocking snack foods like dried fruit, nuts and bars,” he said.
COOK A STORE
Kylie said that she had done a lot of cooking herself to save costs and packages, which is harmful to the environment.
“I bake things like rice bubble slices or Weet-Bix slices for the children of their snack,” he said.
“It's cheap and easy to do.” T
He also said that having a “meat free meal every week” was a great way to reduce costs.
Kylie grows some of her own vegetables at home, reducing costs.
“I have also had meat, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and carrots in the freezer and the pantry to use when needed,” he said.
One mother said she had been impressed by Kylie's ingenuity.

Simplifying meals also helps to save money, and your ability to be calm, rather than following complicated recipes at mealtimes.
“You don't need to buy from the start every week, build on what you already have,” says Kylie.
