The All Blacks XV
Hello everyone and welcome to a live broadcast of Argentina v New Zealand on day five of the 2020 Tri-Nations series. The kick-off is at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle at 7.45pm local time.
Two weeks since the peak of South American rugby Los Pumas was back to prove they are not one-hit wonders against the All Blacks. But with a vastly changed squad and an opponent desperate for revenge, tonight’s prospect is a daunting prospect.
It’s been a tough month for the All Blacks, and coach Ian Foster in particular, having suffered a back-to-back defeat to the Wallabies and then Argentina. Victory is the least that a restless fan base expects but nothing less than a comprehensive crossover will do little to quell the discontent that has built up since the 2019 World Cup favorites swept into the semi-finals 13 months ago. If New Zealand manages to lose three in a row for the first time since 1998 there is a risk that the Shaky Islands could free themselves from their moorings and move into the South Pacific.
The clash at the bulky McDonald Jones Stadium in New South Wales is the penultimate match in the hastily organized Tri-Nations series. With two games to go the three teams are flat on six points each with the All Blacks at the top of the stands courtesy of points difference.
I’ll be back soon with line-ups and whatnot. If you want to get in touch at any time, you can reach me Twitter or email.
