When Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Mi 8, we expected that some version would support the more conventional model. And it was. I was called Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition and then I've seen it even marketed in Spain like Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro.
There was also a cheaper variation, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, a device that we could analyze but did not see it in the West. In fact, we saw a variation of that model but under a more conventional name. So we met Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite, a finale with good design and finishing but that does not look too much as its older brothers, except in the name.

A design that leaves its mark
One of the key strengths of this mobile phone is the design. A terminal with very straight lines does not even feel uncomfortable in their hands. The frame has to do it from metal but it has a finish that does not slip from succeeding.
The back is completely glassy but, as the frame, a finishing trend does not tend to slip, and that is why we can use it without cause, although the sales package brings a silicon that fits quite well. Of course, this area is extremely dirty by the fingerprints that stick to the glass as if it were in it. This is where the reader has fingerprints, which are quick and accurate, as we expected.
In terms of the elements, this is a very conventional mobile phone with buttons (volume in one piece and the ignition button slightly below them) on the right hand side. In the left zone, we have only the dual SIM layer, one of the slots that we can use as a slot for the microSD.
In the upper zone, we only have a microphone and Xiaomi appears to start remove the infrared sensor from some models. In the lower area we have the charging and data connector, USB Type C, and the speaker.
Like the rest of the midrange and high-speed phones, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite does not have this jack phone and FM radio.
Performance and power
Unlike the Xiaomi MI 8 SE, in this model we have a much more well-known processor, the Snapdragon 660. Older chip, although performing well in most situations, indicates that it belongs to mid-time at a more demand time.
We have experienced this especially with difficult games such as Honkai, a demand program for many resources, and we have seen how Snapdragon 845 moves smoothly and does not stop, and she & # 39; n slower and with some frame call.
In the same way that this happens in high level games, we can say that in normal games, that does not like that. Even in the most powerful games it's possible to play and I have not even been tempted to switch to another model when analyzing this one. But of course, you can see that the processor is not a first class.
The same thing happens with RAM, which has 4 GB giving us an everyday experience but sometimes we see how it seems like something short, especially when moving multiple elements and animations in the MIUI multi-field 10.
Regarding internal memory, we have the 64GB that start to be normal, is a correct amount and we think it will not be necessary or use the mentioned microSD of front.
The connection has not given us any problem and even the Wi-Fi 5 is available can connect to speeds more than merit in a theoretical network of 600 Mbps (we have reached 260 Mbps).
Y sound is expected on a mid-range mobile but a second speaker is missing in the note as they have other models. Again, there are details that we do not expect to include in this category, but who, however, would like to see them.
In the 8 Lite Mi Xiaomi has returned to LCD panels and it's not on AMOLED. This smartphone uses a side line 6.26 inches and a resolution of 2280 x 1080 px, which makes a relatively long ratio that does not seem so much for the little boy.
This element can be hidden in the settings, but we will not be able to use the additional space on the side to see notification icons, a failure that we hope will be installed in the software updates in the future.
In the locations in this section, we can make the screen turn on when you get it up, something comfortable when using the face unlocking. We can also wake up with double touch, operate the read mode and change the contrast and color temperature that will suit us.
A decent screen, which looks good and has no excessive reflections, but we do not face a panel that will leave us openly. Meet, no more.
Of course, in the aesthetic section this should be noted a mobile phone with a large screen in small size and that does the same mobile to advise for a specific user profile.
The camera should have been better
The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has selected a configuration of double sensor cameras at the back, with a main 12 Mpx and 5 Mpx secondary. Here is the same configuration that the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE and We think it would have been better to choose the Xiaomi Mi A2, protecting better, especially at night.
We have done a number of tests and although we generally have an acceptable camera, in some seconds we see how the result can be improved. It shows, and it is appreciated that the HDR is implemented by default and we can also use artificial information.
In this way the images do not suffer from a low dynamic range, and we do not have the pictures with stunning HDR that have been in some cases.
O night however, we see that the quality is falling more than we would like, even taking into account the price. As we said before, here is the chosen system for the Xiaomi Mi A2 better, and there is a similar power and mobile price, although there are differences between them.
Y front camera, or 24 Mpx, we provide us with a right solution and quality and we even get the option to make identity unclear, but as it does not have two sensors, the clipper can be improved. Also, when we use this system, the background is sometimes burning too much, as you can see in some images of the upper gallery.
Battery we like
This model is not one that has more battery inside the Xiaomi catalog but we can not say it's a problem, even comparatively. In our use tests, we have seen that it is still quite comfortable on the day of use and if we do not use it too much even more.
We've been playing Honkai many, a much-demanded game in this aspect and HearthStone. We've been taking pictures, listening to podcasts and using social media apps. We've arrived more than one and a half days of autonomy with five hours of screen.
If we make less use of intensive apps, we've reached almost two days of independence with five hours of screen, although in this case, we also have been almost entirely in Wifi.
MIUI 10 arrives
Although we have been experiencing this move, we have received the latest information changed MIUI 9 for MIUI 10. This has completely changed the interface and has improved some key aspects of this part of the mobile, such as the management of notices, that we can now interact unopened.
The Xiaomi My 8 Lite is updated to MIUI 10 in Spain
Xiaomi has begun to update in Spain the new Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite to MIUI 10, although we continue on Android 8 Oreo and Android 9 Pie is not yet reaching.
One of the most striking changes is part of multi-capture, as well as shortcuts of the advanced notifications tab.
This update has also brought us unlock face, which uses the front camera for this, quickly but not as secure as in models with infrared projection points, such as the Xiaomi Mi 8.
MIUI 10 Global is now official: start the next big update
After Xiaomi reveals MIUI 10 in China Xiaomi Mi 8, the brand officially presents the global version. Beta since mid-June.
However, in a few seconds, we have seen that the liquidity was not as good as MIUI 9 although it has not been dramatic either.
Xiaomi has a very final catalog. So it's so we can see how their own phones are becoming a competition between them.
Between the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE and the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite we could think that the first one is a better option (and also more expensive) but it's really not to be sold official in our country.
The dilemma is whether we should look at this phone or the Xiaomi Mi A2. The main difference is in the operating system, but this is not the only one. Y Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has a better design, in the materials and in reducing frames, with smaller size but with larger screen. We also have battery more, but we're losing back in the photographic section, as the front is similar.
If we are looking for a mobile phone with good design, decent performance and low price, we should definitely take a look at Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite as an option.
