Some time ago we gave you a series of tips on things you can do when Windows is slow or presents some kind of problem. However, sometimes our equipment is so damaged and so much “junk” has accumulated over those years if we want to make it perfect we have to perform a clean installation of Windows 10. Do you want to learn how to do it? It’s easier than you think and it will take very little time! Windows provides us with all the tools.
What is a clean installation?
Clean installation, as its name suggests, involves downloading and installing Windows 10 from scratch on our computer. This means we will install a “virgin” version of Windows 10, delete all our programs and personal files. On top of that, this kind of setup removes all pre-installed programs from the manufacturer, a huge bonus for all of us who hate this kind of bloatware.
What benefits does it have? Why should I do it?
We recommend doing a clean install of Windows 10 if:
- Your computer is slower than normal and you’ve already followed our optimization tutorial.
- Some components of the operating system are not working properly and you can’t find the fault (Wi-Fi, screen, audio …).
- You want to install a version of Windows 10 without the modification introduced by the manufacturer From the device.
How do you make a clean installation?
The process is very simple and provided by the operating system itself. We only need to follow the following steps:
First, we will have to open an application “Install” Windows 10. We will find it in the list of applications in our start menu, although we can also search for it directly in the Windows 10 search bar.
Next, we’ll click on “Update and security”. In the left side menu, we select the option “Recovery” stop, just below “Reset this computer”, Click on “Getting Started”.
Now we have to select the option of “Remove all” to be able to do a clean installation. Previously, you must backup the files and personal documents you want to keep. You can use a cloud service like OneDrive or Google Drive or an external hard drive or USB.
Finally, select «Download in the cloud». This step is very important and it is the one that will decide whether you install a clean version of Windows 10 or your manufacturer’s version. The downloaded version of Microsoft cloud is the only one that is completely clean and the one that interests us for this tutorial. Plus, this is the latest version available, so we won’t have to worry about going through the tortuous process of updating Windows afterwards.
After waiting not very long (between 30 and 60 minutes(depending on your computer and connection) the process will be finished and the clean installation of the latest Windows 10 will be finished.
