Elf on the Silff on the International Space Station over Christmas

If you are a parent with young children, you probably have struggled with the night limit of where to place the Elf on the Shelf.

Here's an idea – why not put it in space?

The children's book and popular toys are currently living on the International Space Station, according to a tweet by NASA's astronomers Anne McClain.

"Well, look who has shown it up on @Space_Station!" Lt Col McClain tweeted on Tuesday.

"I believe we all have to be good now! I hope with troubled ways, it does not go into anything that's important! We'll have to wait and see … "

The next day, she followed another tweet, claiming "Elves must think that everything needs ribbon and bow!"

The ISS received a presentation from Dragon Elon Musk's SpaceX Capsule, which included Christmas lunch and other various dances.

Lt Col McClain joined the ISS earlier this month, leaving from Kazakhstan on the Soyuz rocket board, along with David Saint-Jacques, Canadian Space Agency and Oleg Kononenko of Russia's Russian Russian agency.

His period of space lab will expire in June 2019.
