A mysterious odor of seismic waves have traveled thousands of kilometers around the world, turning sensors across Africa, Canada, New Zealand and Hawaii, probably without one person feeling.
- Seismic waves start off the Mozambique coast triggering sensors in Kenya, Chile, New Zealand and Canada
- The gatherings last more than 20 minutes
- The earthquake was not ignored until it was raised by an enthusiastic online earthquake
The roaming started just off the Mayotte banks, a French archipelago in the Indian Ocean between Madagascar and Africa, and they would fly under the radar if it was not for an enthusiastic New York earthquake that had been pulled into real truth US Geological Survey, seismogram online time demonstrations.
They posted images of the readings to Twitter, encouraging researchers around the world to try to abolish where these remarkable waves came.
Unlike traditional earthquakes, which produce pigs of different high frequency waves, readings of Mayotte tremor raises steady low frequency waves that lasted over 20 minutes. It was as if the planet was ringing like a bell.
Online theorists suggest hidden nuclear tests, sea beasts, or feteorite as the cause of roaming, but Goran Ekstrom, a seismologist at Columbia University, told National Geographic, the explanation was likely to move forward.
"I do not think I've seen something like it [but] it does not mean, ultimately, it's an exotic case, "he said.
Professor Ekstrom suggests that the seismic event really starts with a earthquake. He thinks he has passed because he is a slow earthquake.
Slow earthquakes are softer than traditional toys as they are gradually relieving stress relief that can extend over a considerable period of time.
"The same information happens, but it does not happen like a jolt," said Professor Ekstrom.
Since May this year, Mayotte has been the subject of so-called "swarm earthquake"; A cluster of hundreds of seismic events over a period of days or weeks, but activity has decreased significantly over recent months.

An analysis by the French Geological Survey suggests that strange waves can indicate mass movement of magma beneath the earth's crust, such as the collapse of a chamber.
A rhythmic motion, such as slowhing the dandel rock, or for stress that turns through the magma body has the potential to resign in a similar way to Mayotte readings.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo was a similar incident site in 2002, where a low frequency earthquake and earthquake similar to a lower-lying magma chamber was linked to the Nyiragongo volcano.
