Eskom experienced contractors for R139bn theft

The Special Investigation Unit is looking for 11 contractors for stunning R139bn stealing during the construction of Eskom's, Medus, Kusile and Ingula power plants.

And people say that the total cost of Eskom's screw could reach about R500bn, dating back to 2005.

UCC spokeswoman, Nazreen Pandor, said the unit was investigating an R170bn of Eskom – R139bn of it directly linked to contractors working on the power plants.

He said that after "an intense scoping exercise" the unit had prioritized, among other things, to investigate "performance, and a payment to more than R139bn to 11 identified contractors appointed by Eskom in relation to Medupi, Kusile and Ingula station ".

This forms a significant amount of the R334bn spent on plant construction – and it is suggested that public enterprises are a minister to predict Pravin Gordhan last year lost for R100bn to hold the state lower the mark.
