Everton defender Lucas Digne has revealed that he had previously refused two opportunities to join Liverpool.
The left back spoke to France Football for a recent interview, as mentioned by GFFN through Twitter, who talked about how he refused to get to Anfield on two separate occasions.
I have refused to move to Liverpool twice in my career.
During last year's transfer window last year, the French moved to Everton after falling out of favoritism in Barcelona.
Liverpool is covered with options on the left side of the defense, with Andy Robertson appearing as one of the best players in his world football spot.
However, it seems that in previous years, the Reds have pursued an agreement for Digne more than once, with the ex-Paris Saint-Germain star in great demand during past transfer windows.
The 25-year-old may have regretted his decision to transfer the chance to join Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp men sitting quite close to the top of the Premier League table.
Why Liverpool could have lost a trick with Digne
Digne would have provided an exceptional backup option for Robertson. It has been a better deputy than Alberto Moreno.
Champions League experience
Digne has experience of the Champions League following his achievements with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and also Roma on loan.
Clearly, Liverpool moved to Digne when he was a little younger, but he still has his best years ahead and would have been a good, long-term option.
Digne has proved to Everton that it is a threat to an exceptional attack. He has been among their best players this season and would have offered Liverpool a good outlet on the left.
