Eskom chairman Jabu Mabuza

Telkom Jabu Mabuza chairman stepped down from the JSE telecommunications board at the end of May, over seven years after taking on the role.

Telkom said in a statement to shareholders on Thursday that Mabuza will also step down as an independent non-executive director.

The Moloko Seal, an independent non-executive director at present, will be elected as the new chairman on June 1.

Telkom said Moloko had "a wealth of business experience earned over 25 years, with an established career in financial services". He holds positions as independent non-executive chairman of Sibanye-Stillwater and is former non-executive chairman Alexander Forbes.

He also serves on the Boards of Prudential Investment Managers, DG Capital and Stor-Age REIT.

Moloko is executive chairman and co-founder of Thesele Group, a different investment holding company that belongs to black.

Mabuza has served as the chair of Telkom since November 2012. He also serves as chairman of powerful utilities that belong to the Eskom state property.

At the same time, Telkom announced the appointment to the board of Sibusiso Sibisi from 1 April onwards. "His appointment brings extensive expertise in ICT, start-ups and business-to-business intelligence skills," said the company. – – © 2019 NewsCentral Media
